About Tucson Shutdown
OUR DEMOCRACY IS AT A TIPPING POINT!
Trump is leading an authoritarian takeover. Cancelling/subverting the midterms will consolidate his rule. Only a national shutdown will protect our elections and stop the takeover.
Origin
An historic, national coalition with 600 organizational members, MayDayStrong.org is calling for a nonviolent, economic shutdown if Trump or his allies interfere with the election.
Goal
We plan to slow economic activity through the nation for enough days to get the oligarchs’ attention through “No Work! No school! No shopping!” as well as daily protests and significant disruption.
Tucson Shutdown is a local, grassroots group of volunteers working as part of the May Day Strong coalition. Our members are committed to all aspects of election protection up to and including a nationwide economic shutdown if any of the “Red Lines” are crossed. Like many other cities, Tucson will disrupt economic activity as part of a national shutdown. Tucson is represented in the May Day Strong coalition and will have a voice in deciding when to initiate the shutdown.
